We enjoyed a very nice presentation "Songs and Stories Down on the Farm" by Matthew Dodd. He sang us songs about farms and farm life, some you knew some you didn't. He also talked about some aspects of farm life that many people aren't familiar with. Why are barns red? The Chew Mail Pouch painting on barns. And a song he wrote about why chickens cross the road. A very entertaining show.
We took over Red Lion Bowl!!! A good crowd of our members went bowling and as is said "A good time was had by all!" Some members who don't bowl even came along and played cards.
Look out!! We were throwing hatchets in the Senior Center today! Mike and Kim were the big winners. Winner or not we all had fun. Also, thanks to Fred for running yet another tournament!
We helped Kim celebrate her 60th Birthday!! Over 100 people filled the gym for the event. Kim's lifelong friend Lisa Fifer created a very nice slideshow presentation. Dick Myers donated Pit Ham for lunch.
Congratulations Kim now you can join the Delta Senior Center!!!
The employees of Constellation Energy's Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station kindly donated a check for $5,000 to the Delta Senior Center! The money will be used to help pay for the many crafts, projects, and activities that take place at the center. Thanks You!!!
Jane Kuhl and Drew Denton from Lumina Honey and Hive products stopped by and gave a very informative presentation all about honey. Along with the interesting information they brought several samples for out tasting pleasure.
A group of our volunteers have started sewing Fidget Matts, afghans, and quilts for Hospice & Community Care of York. This is the first delivery of finished projects for the Hospice.
A group of our members took a tour of The Coulsontown Cottages and Rehobeth Welsh Church. Don Robinson, who is in charge of The Welsh Cottages at Coulsontown, was kind enough to donate his time and Gemmill's Bus Service provided transportation. This was a very interesting tour with a look inside the cottages and church. As you can see some renovations are taking place. Stewart's Slate Roofing and Painting is installing a traditional slate roof on one of the cottages.
Thanks to the many volunteers and support from the community the Delta Senior Center was able to raise a little over $3,500 at our Yard Sale. This money will be used to help fund our many programs that benefit the seniors in the area. Thanks also to the Mason-Dixon Lions Club for making food and drink available during the event.
We were entertained today by an excellent Elvis impersonator. Derek Reed was an engaging performer with a great voice. Everyone who attended was glad they were there. Videos of the show can be found on our Facebook Page.
Chef Marty was in today and cooked some New Orleans Style Creole Spinach Balls. He also had a Vidallia Onion sauce for dipping. Check your calendars for his next visit and you can sample his treats too!

We were happy to have Don Robinson stop by and give us a presentation about the Coulson Town Cottages. The cottages were built in the mid 1800's by the Welsh quarry and slate workers. Thanks to Don, other volunteers, and generous donations from citizens and local businesses the cottages are being preserved. They may be the only ones of their kind in the country!
We were very pleased to have Jeff Stike stop by and give a very informative presentation about the Mason-Dixon Line. He not only explained the world history aspects of the Line but mixed in local history as well. Thanks Jeff!
A Memorial Service was held for our members who passed away over the last several years. Director Kim read each name and gave a nice remembrance of that person. Joan then read some Bible Verses and after attendees offered some of their memories of their deceased family and friends.
We had a Cornhole Tournament!
Thanks to Fred for setting up and running the event. 16 players cheered each other on through the single elimination and a good time was had by all!
A Stroke Awareness program was presented by some of the staff from Encompass Rehab Hospital of York. There was a lot of important information . Thanks for coming down.
We were visited by State Representative Wendy Fink for "Coffee and Conversation". Representative Fink outlined her positions on several subjects and took questions on those and more. Here she is seen speaking with Director Kim Maglaughlin and member Linda.

The Senior Center was awash in green for St Patrick's Day!
March 14th or 3.14 is Pi or 𝞹 Day. Some of our members returned to the kitchen this year in honor of Pi day and baked some beautiful, and delicious, pies.
Erica Groom presented a "Sheep to Shawl" demonstration. She brought in wool from her sheep and the necessary tools to show how to convert the wool into yarn.
Stained Glass was the latest project. Karen from the White Owl Workshop brought pre-cut glass pieces, along with all the other supplies, to make one of three projects. This was a little trickier than most projects but was a lot of fun and everyone was very happy with their finished pieces.
One of the March crafts was decorating stools with mosaic chips. Karen from the White Owl Workshop lead the craft and kindly provided all materials.
Our members have started playing a new card game called 500. It is not the 500 Rummy you may think but a totally different game. Stop in and give it a try.
On Valentine's Day a few employees of Excelon came to the center and provided breakfast for our members. There was also a talented young man playing music. It was a very nice, well attended, event.

Erika Groom stopped by the Senior Center and gave a demonstration of Needle Felting. It is an interesting process for using a barbed needle to force yarn through a base to create 2 or 3 dimensional art
The theme for January's Afternoon Tea was "Vintage Fashion". Along with wearing some Vintage Fashion there were some vintage items brought for display.
World War II veteran Bob Kemp gave a presentation at the Delta Senior Center about his personal experiences serving in the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Pacific Theaters. His presentation was interesting, informative, and sometimes emotional. Thank you for your service Bob.
The Theatre Arts For Everyone troupe came to the Senior Center and performed their play "Mystery at Senior Manor". Over 60 members of the Delta Senior Center were in attendance to appreciate the show
Karen from the White Owl Workshop came by and coached some members on painting a wall hanging with a winter cardinal theme. If we say so ourselves these are some nice looking scenes.
If you are a member of the Delta Senior Center and would like to give bowling a try feel free to join this group of regular bowlers. We bowl on Fridays at 1 PM at the Lion Bowling Center in Red Lion. It costs $7.50 for 3 games with shoe rental included. It's a "No Judgement Zone" so we don't care if someone gets 2 pins or 200. We're there for some fun and a little exercise.
This year's annual Christmas party attendees were filled with the Christmas spirit while playing Bingo, being entertained by puppeteer Jack Foreaker, and having a nice turkey lunch. Many thanks to Excelon for footing the bill for the party and Klein's ShopRite for supplying the Danishes. Many thanks also to everyone who helped set-up, helped in the kitchen, and our Elf Cameron Ingool, who stopped by from Model A Fitness
The Delta Senior Center Book Club enjoyed tea at the Tea Trolley for their December meeting. MANY thanks and blessings to the anonymous benefactor who paid for our wonderful tea.
